The team at Mermaid Quay has been recognised for its commitment to providing its customers with good quality loos! An often forgotten and overlooked asset, toilets are important for everyone and the team at Mermaid Quay recognise this.
They have recently been awarded a Platinum grade and a Highly commended National Award in the prestigious Loo of the Year Awards 2024.
The Awards, established more than 35 years ago, are the culmination of a search to find the best ‘away from home’ washrooms in the UK. Inspectors travel England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic to find the best ‘loos’ across 63 categories and every aspect of these loos are graded.
In 2024 Loo of the Year inspectors made unannounced visits to every venue which entered. Each was assessed against 101 judging criteria – including signage, décor, fixture, fittings and overall standards of cleanliness and management. Every washroom received a grading ranging from Bronze to Diamond, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus and Diamond winners are short listed for one or more of several National Awards covering England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic. These highest rated facilities are highlighted at the Loo of the Year Award Showcase which will take place on January 15 2025, at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.
The Loo of the Year Awards are run by Becky Wall BEM, co-founder of A Plush Flush, a provider of luxury portable toilets for events, weddings, festivals and conferences. Becky took over the awards in April 2021 because of her commitment to supporting those who take ‘loos’ seriously.
