As part of the Mermaid Quay public realm improvements project, representatives of contractors Encon and the Mermaid Quay management team visited the neighbouring Mount Stuart Primary School recently to talk to the pupils about the dangers of construction sites and to launch a site safety poster art competition.
Encon social value team Antonia John and Chloe Gore, and Jenny Bunday, soft services manager for Mermaid Quay had a fantastic afternoon with the school pupils and were delighted by the high level of engagement and the wide range of questions at the Q&A.
Antonia John said: “We would like to thank the teachers and pupils of Mount Stuart Primary for their warm welcome. We now can’t wait to see the poster competition entries. The winning posters will be printed and showcased on our hoardings at Mermaid Quay.
After having to deliver school engagement events virtually for such a long time, it was great to be back in a school, meeting pupils, and we look forward to returning to Mount Stuart Primary to present prizes to the winning artists.”

Work started in September and is being undertaken over the autumn and winter, so that the centre can emerge with a whole new look in time for Easter 2022.
We returned to Mount Stuart Primary School with EnCon Construction at the beginning of April to present prizes to the winning artists of our site safety poster competition.
These posters were displayed on site on the heras fencing helping to promote site safety around construction.
